Red Mass

We will celebrate the annual Red Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral, 615 Pere Antoine Alley, New Orleans, LA on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 9:30. A reception will follow at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, 717 Orleans St., New Orleans, LA. Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond. Guest homilist will be Bishop Robert W. Marshall, Jr. All members of the Bench and Bar of all Faiths are invited to attend.

Prayer Breakfast

The St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyer’s Association is happy to announce a prayer breakfast on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Parlon’s Café at 1001 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70005. The Guest Speaker will be Deacon Martin O. Gutierrez, the Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Charities at the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

The 2021 Red Mass opening the Louisiana courts will take place on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. 2021 Red Mass with Reception at the Bourbon Orleans

The Red Mass will be held at St. Louis Cathedral on Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Louis Cathedral with a reception to follow at the Bourbon Orleans. Please remember the City of New Orleans covid rules:

As you have heard, effective August 16th New Orleans is now requiring all individuals eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine to have either (a) one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or (2) evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to entering any of the following establishments:

 -          Indoor dining and drinking (including restaurants, bars, breweries)

-          Indoor fitness (gyms, indoor group fitness centers or individual fitness centers)

-          Indoor entertainment or performance (including casinos)

Acceptable evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination includes:

-          LA Wallet App’s SMART Health Card

-          An original, digital photograph, or photocopy of CDC Vaccination Card (both sides)

-          An official vaccine record issued by another state, a foreign nation or the WHO.

Veteran's Day Fellowship Breakfast

After the success of last year’s Veteran’s Day Fellowship Breakfast, we are hoping to make it an annual event. This year it is scheduled on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Bravo Restaurant in Metairie beginning at  7:30 AM.  The program will be over by 8:45 AM, but members are welcome to stay later to visit and network with other members.

Red Mass

The annual Red Mass will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018, at 9:30 AM at St. Louis Cathedral, with a reception afterward at a place yet to be determined.  Fr. Paul Scalia, son of former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, will be the homilist.  Father Scalia grew up in the Diocese of Arlington and attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.  He then studied theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome.  Since his ordination in 1996 he has served as parochial vicar at several parishes and as pastor of Saint John the Beloved in McLean.  He currently serves as the Episcopal Vicar for Clergy.  He has written for various publications and is a frequent speaker on matters of faith and doctrine.  Father Scalia's first book, That Nothing May Be Lost: Reflections on Catholic Doctrine and Devotion, was published by Ignatius Press in 2017.

The St. Thomas More Feast Day Mass will be on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the chapel of Notre Dame Seminary, 2901 S. Carrollton Ave, New Orleans.  The Mass will be followed by a reception, short annual meeting, and CLE presentation.  The 2018 Evangeline Award will also be presented.
